Abergavenny and the surrounding area

Abergavenny is an ancient market town which has long been known as The Gateway to Wales.

Overlooking the River Usk and surrounded by mountains, the most famous of which are the Sugar Loaf, Blorenge and Skirrid, it is an ideal centre for exploring the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons.

It is an excellent base for fishing, sailing, golf, pony-trekking, hang-gliding and grass-skiing.

Boat trips and walks can be taken along the tranquil Newport-Brecon canal.
